Transitional Kindergarten offers children turning five between Sept. 2 and Dec. 31st an opportunity to develop their pre-literacy, pre-math, fine motor, gross motor, social-emotional and self-regulation skills by participating in developmentally appropriate hands on activities. Our Hollister TK program offers children the gift of an extra year to grow and learn in a rich, stimulating and caring environment. Students will learn to establish productive social and working relationships with their peers through cooperative play, and experiences working with large groups, small groups and partners. Our curriculum provides daily opportunities for dramatic play, block play, art, music, language and reasoning development, conflict resolution, and sensory exploration. Parent volunteers are strongly encouraged to participate in our morning program so that children can have more guidance and support as they learn to play simple games that require turn taking, counting, strategy, and fair play. As the year progresses, students are encouraged to develop self-direction and take more responsibility for themselves and their environment. The TK teacher encourages children to develop their creativity and thinking skills, imagine and wonder, express their feelings, take risks, and make choices with the hope of inspiring passion for life long learning.
